We knew that Joker, (Slick’s Cuttin Wild, owned by Mike Patrick) was producing consistently superior offspring for a number of years, so when Bob Williams and I decided to consider adding female pups out of him to our homes, we paid a lot of attention to the females he was being bred to. We were looking for quickness, intensity, style as well as superior bird finding ability. We weren’t necessarily interested in what the dam had achieved but rather her lineage and individual qualities. Important to us was size and build. We wanted them to be on the smaller side and lean. We were very excited to hear that Allison and Heath Autry in Argyle, TX had bred their female Callie (Autry’s California Gold Rush) to Joker and we quickly learned that Callie met our profile exactly. Callie was competing in NSTRA field trials, where she had very quickly earned a Championship and was also being actively used as a guide dog on wild Texas bobwhite and blue quail. We quickly committed to 2 female pups and this decision has proven to be one of the best we ever made. Diva, and her sister Dixie, have tremendous game drive and bird finding ability that compliments all of the other qualities we sought and are both off to a great start in both AKC field trial competition and hunting wild birds.
