Teton Kennels We have decided to breed Powder and Sport a second time. It wasn't an easy decision as there were a number of folks asking for another Slick/Powder litter, but we will have excellent pups from that line in the future with the addition of Lily to our kennel. The first Sport/Powder litter produced an overall excellent get, with lots of drive, style, intensity and willingness to please. They were good looking with high heads and tails, easily trained and several are competing in AKC horseback field trials at this time. Some of you knew the pup I kept from the first litter. I called him Wyatt. Many who saw him in action thought he was one of the best field trial prospects they had ever seen. I agree wholeheartedly. He was a powerful dog, fast and always way to the front. He listened and had keen intelligence. In a single weekend Wyatt won a major Open Derby Stake and an Open puppy stake. His littermate, Toupee won the Amateur Puppy Stake (Wyatt was not entered), and finished second in the Open Derby stake and a third littermate, Sally, took 3rd place in the Amateur puppy stake. I thought Wyatt had dual potential, and a good friend, Carol Cronk, whose female GSP, Carley ,won the Westminster show this year, agreed, so Wyatt spent a couple of months during the summer with her on the show circuit. Wyatt got his first show points at a Flagstaff, AZ event under Carol's handling. The following fall, unfortunately, I lost Wyatt while free roading him near my home. He was never found. His littermates Sally and Zeke have gone on to AKC broke dog placements, and the pups that are with hunters are all making their owners very proud. Sport and Powder are still competing in broke dog stakes. Sport is an AKC Field Champion and has 10 points in Amateur competition, needing only a 3 point Amateur win to finish his AFC title. He is also a NSTRA Champion and was Runner up at the 2000 NSTRA Endurance Classic. Powder is doing well in broke stakes and has 5 points toward her FC title, including retrieving points and her major win. We are looking forward to 2005/2006 season and will be working hard to complete these titles. Both are qualified for the GSPCA National Championships in Eureka, Kansas this coming October.
